Ferro Pizza

Since 1981, Ferro Pizza has been serving up a little piece of New York in the heart of Tamarac. It started with Giovanni and Valentina Ferro, who opened their doors in Sunflower Plaza with a simple promise: honest, made-to-order Italian food, cooked the way it's supposed to be, served to people like family.

That promise has outlasted hurricanes, a pandemic, and more than four decades of changing times. When Hurricane Wilma left much of South Florida without power, Ferro's kept its ovens running, handing out cheese pizza to neighbors waiting in line through the heat. When COVID-19 closed dining rooms across the state, the same kitchen kept cooking, quietly keeping the community fed one takeout order at a time.

In 2020, the Ferro family retired and passed the torch to new owners, but the heart of the restaurant never changed. The same cooks still work the line. The same recipes still come out of the kitchen. And kids who walk through the door still get a fresh roll and garlic butter while their family settles in, a small tradition that's become a rite of passage for generations of regulars.

Today, Ferro Pizza is still the place where New York transplants say the smell alone makes them feel like they're home, where regulars order the same chicken francese or Italian wedding soup they've been getting for years, and where Friday nights mean a dining room full of families who've been coming back since they were kids themselves. It isn't fancy. It doesn't need to be. It's just good food, made the same way it always has been, for the people who keep coming back for more.
